Jill Ford Ceramics

A range of innovative contemporary porcelain Wall Pieces, porcelain vases and bowls thrown on the wheel  and slip cast porcelain candlesticks.

Refined elegant shapes and a pared back range of colour characterise the work, allowing emphasis to be placed on rich textural decoration. Inspiration is derived from the landscape which is analysed into bands of textural surface patterns. The play of light on vast tracts of water in flooded watermeadows or at sea, create reflections and effects that are depicted on the surfaces of pots and pictures. A stylised design of silver birches with slender white trunks and dense foliage is a recurrent theme. Original porcelain wall pieces depict landscapes and the abstract effects created by flooding, in a highly individual style. 

All the ceramics are made by hand by Jill in her studio pottery in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Visitors are welcomed by telephone appointment and commissions for bespoke pieces can be negotiated.
