Barnacle shell bowls are made from porcelain, thrown on the wheel very finely so that the rim is thin and slightly translucent. Into the rim I bore through masses of tiny ridged holes that resemble barnacle shells on coastal rocks. Boring through the porcelain creates a raised ridge - like on the shells - and gives a dynamic tension betweek the smooth surface of porcelain and deeply textured holes. These contrasts help to give a pot it's appeal.
Group together with the large Barnacle shell bowl or Standing form for a dramatic display.
