Made in the traditional Korean method by throwing two perfectly matching large semispheres from porcelain. After allowing them to firm up the pieces arecarefully joined together to create a spherical form -full and round - like the full moon. The technique requires skill in the throwing of large pieces of clay and in the precision of the joining. - a lovely task that cannot be rushed!
The potsare left plain and white decorated with a semi matte glaze that accentuates the curvaceous form. I also decorate some of the jars in black glaze with a decorative reactive glaze that gives a midnight blue textural highlight.
The Moon jars have visual and aesthetic impact.
