During the lockdown I've been so grateful to be able to continue throwing.

If you have a wheel - and some clay - and would like to take some time pefecting yout throwing skills, this masterclass is perfect for you. It's a great time to really perfect your throwing, ready for when shows resume.

Using the Zoom platform I do a short demo throwing a bowl - or other item if you prefer, talking you through the stages of

  • preparation of the clay
  • centering
  • coning
  • opening up
  • pulling up the wall
  • shaping
  • finishing

Then I will obsrve as you throw a pot on your wheel - pinpointing good techniques and ones that could be improved. Often it's just a case of offering a different hand position. We can interact as you throw more pots just as if you were here in the pottery. You will be able to ask questions as we proceed and stop whenever you need help. Afterwards I'll email a copy of what we've covered and the key points to work on.
